Obituary for William (Woody) H. Woodford

William "Woody" H. Woodford, 67, Mooresville, IN died on July 23, 2012. He was born on December 18, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN.

He attended school at Washington High School. He served in the Army from 1962 to 1964 in the 101st Airborne 502nd Regiment. He was a Lifetime Volunteer Fireman, serving as a Captian, EMT and Chaplin beginning his career at Pike Township and finishing his career with Monroe Township Fire Department. He dedicated his life to Christ on November 17, 1968. He was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle, Northwest Assembly of God, Crossroad Tabernacle, Faith Chapel and New Life in Christ serving as a Deacon of each. His love of music was evident in the music he wrote recording a Gospel CD "Still Holding On" in 2007. He retired from Carrier Corporation in August 2011 where he was employed for 48 years. His love of family and friends was undeniable and his compassion for people, his kindness and goodness toward those he didn't know will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Steeley who he married on March 28, 1963. He is also survived by two daughters: Pamela (Vern) Perkins and Sue (Jeff) Cross; son, Charles (Wendy) Woodford; eight grandchildren: Brandon and Danielle Allen, Hannah, Justus, Mica and Donica Woodford, Sierra and Dax Cross; great granddaughter, Grace Helmick; former son in law, Randell Cross and four brothers: John H., James T., Samuel D. and Robert E. Woodford. He is preceded in death by both parents: John Harold and Hilda Burgdorf Woodford and two brothers: Charles E. and Frederick E. Woodford.

Friends may call 4-8pm, Friday, July 27, 2012 at Jones Crossing Banquet, Mooresville, next to Jones Family Mortuary and also 10-11am, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Springhill Christian Church. Funeral services will be at 11am, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Springhill Christian Church. William will be laid to rest in Williams Creek Cemetery in Indianapolis.
