Obituary for Darlene Rae Goddard (Rushing)

Darlene Rae (Rushing) Goddard, 68, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 30, 1949 to Roy and Ruby (Reedy) Rushing in Mooresville. She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1967. She married John A. Goddard on October 22, 1968.

Darlene was married to her beloved husband for nearly 50 years, enjoyed raising her girls and gathering family and friends together. She was very active in Grace Church ministries including leading women's small groups and singing in the choir. She enjoyed freelance photography, landscaping, and traveling. She provided cosmetology services to many local residents at both Studio 9 and previously Hair Prescriptions. Overall, she was passionate about encouraging and investing in others.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, John Goddard of Avon; three loving daughters, Lisa Bowman of Indianapolis, Nicole (Christopher) Perry of Avon and Christina (David) Cole of MO; nine grandchildren, Zachary (Victoria) Bowman, Josie Bowman, Evan and Morgan Perry, Dawson, Jaron, Owen, Solomon and Zebulon Cole; a sister, Rhonda (Paul) Tandy; and four brothers, Jim (Judy) Gross, Larry (Emelita) Rushing, Gary Rushing and Rodney (Elma) Rushing. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Janie Rushing; three half-brothers, Omar and Tony Rushing, Wayne Gross; and two half-sisters, Virginia Reedy and Helen Dreasher.

Family and friends may gather to pay their respects from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 20th and 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21st at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Jim Taylor will officiate Darlene's celebration of life service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21st at Jones Family Mortuary. Darlene will be laid to rest in White Lick Cemetery.
