Thomas Howard  Sanborn
After a courageous battle with cancer, Thomas Howard Sanborn, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on July 19, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born April 26, 1944 to the late Jack and Margaret (Davis) Sanborn. He married his teenage sweetheart who was also his next door neighbor, Jean, on August 24, 1963. They have a son, Tommy Sanborn, and a beloved daughter, Didi Sanborn, who preceded him in death in 2004.

Tom retired from Allison Transmission in 1999 after 37 years as a General Foreman. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1962. He loved spending time with his family and friends, going on fishing trips with his son and grandson and watching basketball. He enjoyed coaching youth sports for many years and been an active member of the Mooresville Booster Club. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 55 years, Jean (Dethridge) Sanborn; his son and daughter-in-law, Tommy (Edie) Sanborn; his grandchildren, Jessica (Mason) Baker, Erika Sanborn and Jacob Sanborn; his great-grandchildren, Haiden Sanborn, Remy-Lynn Sanborn, Brexton Baker and Brinley Baker; his sister, Joyce (Jim) Blickensderfer; and many nieces and nephews,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Margaret (Davis) Sanborn; his brother, Bill McAvoy; his sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Robert) Price; and his beloved daughter, Didi Sanborn.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2018 with a brother-in-law, Ronnie Smith, officiating Tom's celebration of life service at 4 p.m. at Jones Crossing Banquet Center, next door to Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. Tom will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.

The family requests if you are attending on Sunday to bring a 3x5 card with a favorite memory of Tom to be shared during the service.
