Obituary for Vera Christine Farmer (Phelps)

Vera Christine (Phelps) Farmer, 89, of Mooresville, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2019 in IU West Hospital. Vera was born in Somerset, KY on June 15, 1930 to the late Emerson and Rosa (Mathis) Phelps. She married the late James "Jay" Dewey Farmer on April 1, 1950.

Vera lived in Mooresville since 1991 and previously in Avon for 13 years. She retired after 25 years as a sales clerk for Service Merchandise.

Vera was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, loved gardening, watching Colts football and bowling. She enjoyed farming with her husband and spending time with her family and friends.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Patty (Daniel) Johnson of Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Jason (Betsy) Gorman, Andrew (Jennifer) Farmer and Amanda Farmer; seven great grandchildren: Sarah, David, Weston, Adam, Ryan, Jace and Sophia; one great-great grandson, Leo. Vera is preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Marvin Jay Farmer; three brothers: Clarence, Kenneth, and Edward Phelps; two sisters: Zella Randall and Norma Jean Inabnitt.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 11 am - 1 pm on Wednesday, July 10th, 2019 in Jones Family Mortuary, 4165 East Allison Rd. Mooresville. Pastor Bill Van Horn will officiate the celebration of life service in Centenary United Methodist Church, 6161 East Centenary Rd. Mooresville, IN 46158 at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 10th. Vera will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
